| It
was a long wait between Spititech and Organasm and
Alchemist spent most of this time writing new material,
the band recorded 2 pre-productions in this time
with Chock, and many of the songs were rewritten
until all were happy with the tunes. In the Australian
summer at the start of 2000 Alchemist returned with
DW Norton to sweltering Backbeach studios to record
Organasm. The band was well prepared and the record
was cut in almost record time. Organasm is by far
the best produced Alchemist record and shows a band
at the peak of their career still playing original
and emotive music. Alchemist also worked out their
label details with people that actually care about
their music. The CD was licensed to Chatterbox/Phantom
for Australia and to Displeased Records for the
rest of the world. Alchemist consider the release
a new beginning for the band and are now keen to
build upon this new found support. Madman Nick Tropiano
with the help of Utopia import Records Syd, put
Alchemist on tour with Cryogenic and Psi Kore, for
a three way manic tour of Australia in support of
the new release. This was the most successful tour
Alchemist had ever undertaken. Unfortunately the
bands ever cool sound guy Gup was recovering from
surgery during the recording and tour, Gup's absence
was the only bad thing about about this point in
time, but thanks to the help of Cryogenic crew,
The band managed to perform without him.
