Information |
| “Jar
of Kingdom” is Alchemists first full length CD following
two successful demo tapes Demo 90 and Demo 91. The
band entered the studio in February 1993 to record
the album. The band was signed at the time to Lethal
Records (Austria). The tracking of Jar of kingdom
was done at Powerhouse Studios Sydney, due to a
limited budget the time we spent in Powerhouse was
from 6pm to 6am every night for 5 days. After finishing
each morning the band would drive back to Cronulla
and try to sleep all day, to make things worse the
air conditioning in the studio broke down and every
day was a scorcher. After all the tracks were put
down it was time to mix, the band and chain smoking
stand-in engineer Brett Stanton went to Rich Studios
Sydney and several days later Jar of Kingdom was
finished. The album was released in Europe on Lethal
records and 1000 copies were exported to Australia.
The band received positive reviews from all around
the world, the Australian copies quickly sold and
it has since become a rare cult classic. The band
were not happy with the production of the record
but it has become a favorite of many Alchemists
fans. It is an ambitious album with some of Alchemists
most bizarre compositions. Due to the unavailability
in Australia for 5 years Alchemist re-released Jar
of Kingdom to Shock Records in 1999, re-mastered
with new artwork and the 4 tracks off Demo 91. |
