| In
1993 Alchemist released the debut album Jar
of Kingdom that was recorded by Brett Stanton
at Powerhouse studios in Sydney under less
than favourable conditions. The band could
have been happier with the sound quality of
the record but the ideas and songs were captured.
1000 copies of the record were exported to
Australia and were quickly sold. Alchemist's
profile in Australia rose immensely after
this release and the band were getting good
magazine exposure and reviews both domestically
and overseas. Alchemist were also offered
their fist international support slots in
1993 the first being German thrash legends
Kreator at the Cobra club in Sydney, followed
closely by Pungent Stench at the Terrace in
Canberra, then Fear Factory at the ANU in
Canberra and finally Bolt Thrower from England
in both Sydney and Canberra. These support
shows increased general awareness of the band
and raised numbers at local and interstate
Alchemist gigs. Alchemist were using the services
James Drynan for sound who also used to do
sound for Armoured Angel and who would later
work with Canberra's Pod People and LOG. |
