| In
1994 the band were considering the follow-up
release to 'Jar of Kingdom'. After contemplating
the bands label situation the decision was
made to record another promo tape and distribute
it around in the hope of finding a better
label to work with. Alchemist were rehearsing
and writing in a small modified storage facility
in Mitchell ACT that proved to be excellent,
mainly because there was absolutely nothing
to do there besides Jam. After the initial
songs were written Alchemist took there new
songs to 2XX studios in Canberra and recorded
Promo 94 with the help of engineer Martin
Sheppard. Promo 94 was then packaged up and
sent to labels around the world. Promo 94
also was traded heavily around Australia and
Alchemist shows especially in hard to crack
cities like Sydney were now at capacity levels
with a whole new level of interest. An offer
was eventually secured with Shock Records
Australia and the band signed for 3 records.
The end 1994 was spent recording the new record
while returning to the stage for Metal for
the Brain 4 at the ANU in Canberra. |
