| 1996
was supposed to start with a New Years Eve
performance in Melbourne at New Years Revolution
to be headlined by Oz rockers 'Rose Tattoo'
but was cancelled due to rain. In January
1996 the band performed at the Sydney big
day out which is still to this day one of
the bands most memorable shows and kicked
off one of Alchemist's busiest years to date.
Alchemist supported Cathedral and Paradise
lost in Sydney and Canberra and the second
coming of Fear Factory in Queensland. Alchemist
witnessed Fear Factory perform their first
headlining show of the Demanufacture CD which
was truly outstanding, the next few nights
Burton lost his voice and there was eventually
a riot on stage in Brisbane. Alchemist performed
around Australia and played support shows
for 'The Young Gods' Towards the end of the
year the band headed to 'Rocking House Studios'
in Byron Bay NSW to record their new record
while staying in a true rainforest mansion.
The band then entered Charring Cross Studios
in Sydney to mix the record. There was obviously
a problem with the mixes and the sessions
were scrapped. The new record would not be
finished until 97. |
